AbdulRazaq ignores Bolarinwa, hails Bio on birthdays
The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Friday failed to issue a public statement congratulating the Kwara All Progressive Congress’ chairman, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa on the occasion of his birthday.
This is a clear divagation from the governor’s norm of congratulating party chieftains and top dignitaries on their birthday anniversaries.
The reason for not felicitating with the APC boss remained unclear. The governor’s spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye, did not answer multiple calls made to him. He is also yet to respond to a text message sent to him.
However, there are speculations by some political analysts in the state that the government may have deliberately ignored the chairman’s birthday due to the recent sour relationship between the duo.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and the Governor have been engrossed in a fight for the control of the soul of the party in the state. Bolarinwa is a staunched loyalist of the Minister.
Meanwhile, the governor had felicitated with a former Transport Minister and APC chieftain, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Bio on the occasion of his birthday.
“The Governor joins family, friends and well-wishers to congratulate Rt. Hon. Bio, a leading light in Kwara APC and critical stakeholder from the North, on his birthday. The Governor commends the former minister and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly for his contributions to the growth and development of Kwara State over the years,” the governor’s spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye hailed Bio — who shares same birth date with Bolarinwa — on behalf of his principal.
Sending out birthday wishes to important dignitaries has over the last one year of this administration become a tradition of the Kwara state government.
