Kwara ACReSAL and NES forge strong alliance
The Nigerian Environmental Society (NES), Kwara State Chapter, has paid a courtesy call to the office of the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) to foster a symbiotic relationship and form a formidable alliance in environmental conservation and other agro-climatic issues.
The visit aimed to strengthen efforts to address climate issues and enhance inter-institutional cooperation between ACReSAL and other professional bodies in the state.
Alhaji Shamsideen Olatunbosun Aregbe, the State Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, highlighted some of the project’s intervention activities in the state, including the “Lata Grazing Reserve” aimed at resolving the farmers-herders conflict.
He noted that ACReSAL’s objectives align closely with those of NES, particularly in waste management, water sanitation, agricultural development, and environmental protection.
Dr. Ibrahim Olanrewaju Ibrahim, Chairman of NES, Kwara State Chapter, emphasized the importance of building synergy with ACReSAL to address environmental challenges such as waste generation, land degradation, and deforestation.
He noted that NES collaborates with various agencies in the state and reiterated the need for partnership with ACReSAL in land reclamation and restoration efforts.
