The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed a devastating attack by suspected bandits in the Soro community of Binji Local Government Area.
This attack led to the tragic loss of three lives, left several others injured, and resulted in the abduction of eight individuals.
ASP Ahmad Rufai, the state police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the attack and detailed that a group of gunmen, suspected to be bandits, launched the assault on the Soro community.
Swift response from law enforcement, with the support of military personnel, allowed them to repel the attackers.
However, the bandits, in an act of frustration, set several houses on fire, leading to the loss of three lives, while several others sustained injuries.
Local sources from the affected village reported that the bandits managed to successfully abduct eight individuals, primarily women, who were taken away on motorcycles.
The situation escalated further as vigilante groups carried out a reprisal attack on a Fulani community, prompting the intervention of Sokoto State’s Police Commissioner, Ali Kaigama. Commissioner Kaigama initiated a dialogue among the residents of the affected areas in an attempt to quell tensions and restore peace.
