SERENA EDWARD Secretary.

Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), Minister of State for Labour and Employment, named Are as the chairman and Elesin as the vice-chairman.

The minister on Monday unveiled 20-member committees in all the 36 States and the FCT.

The committees are charged with the responsibility of selecting 1000 persons per Local government area that would be engaged by the Federal Government in the Special Public Works Programme.

The programme seeks to employ about 774, 000 youths for three months and they would be engaged in unskilled jobs such as sweeping streets, clearing drainages, controlling traffic and road construction among others.

They are to be paid N20,000 monthly.

According to the Federal Government, interested youths are allowed to apply regardless of political affiliations.

Keyamo had earlier on Tuesday, raised an alarm over attempt by politicians to manoeuvre the recruitment.
