774,000 Jobs: Kwara c’ttee to hold inaugural meeting Tuesday

The selection committee for the Extended Social Public Works Programme of the Federal Government plans to hold its inaugural meeting on Tuesday, July 21.

Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Oluwasegun Oyewo, who spoke in Ilorin, the state capital said the creation of the programme was to mitigate the lack of job opportunities through a short-term engagement of 1,000 unemployed persons per local government area.

He said, “The programme, which is coordinated by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, was part of the Federal Government’s intervention programmes and fiscal stimulus measures to help the Unemployed graduates and Uneducated Nigerians.”

The Special Public Works programmes of the Federal Government, expected to engage 16,000 people across the 16 local government areas of the state, is an initiative which will start on October 1, 2020.

The selection committees of the 36 States had been inaugurated in Abuja last week.

Each of the beneficiaries of the programme will be paid N20,000 monthly to carry out some selected public works.
