Committee for the Extended Special Public works Programme of the Federal Government has been inaugurated in Kwara state.

The Chairman of the Kwara State Selection Committee, Oyewo Oluwasegun, at the inauguration on Tuesday in Ilorin, the Kwara state Capital, said the objective of the programme was to recruit 1,000 unskilled youths in each of the 16 local governments areas of the state with a view to reducing unemployment to the barest minimum.

He said, “Because our potential beneficiaries have employment challenges, the beneficiary identification process must be fair, transparent, equitable and apolitical.”

The chairman gave assurance of the committee’s determination to ensure strict adherence to FG’s selection guidelines.

In his remark, the Emir of Ilorin, who is also a member of the committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari assured residents and indigenes of Kwara that the committe would ensure equity and fairness in the distribution of the 16,000 job slots earmarked for the state by the Federal Government.

Sulu-Gambari commended the Federal Government for ensuring that the Implementation Committee is ‘all-inclusive as it cut across all strata of the society’. He said this alone would go a long way in engendering confidence in the works of the committee.

The committee consists of traditional leaders, religious leaders and civil society organisations’ leaders.
