6 rescued as boat accident kills 5 persons in Kano
A boat mishap has killed not less than five persons at Kanwa Dam in Madobi LGA of Kano state.
The sad development was confirmed by the Kano State Fire Service, revealing that six passengers were saved in the accident.
The spokesperson of the state fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the tragedy to newsmen, revealing that: “The incident occurred on April 22, at about 5:40pm.”
“There are 11 persons on the boat, six were rescued alive, while five were rescued in an unconscious state.
“Names of those that lost their lives in the mishap are Abdulrazak Nabara, 40; Dalha Muktar-Atamma, 40; Mustapha Ibrahim, 45; Umar Isah, 35, and Umar Idris, 35.”
The spokesperson also added that the victims of the accident hailed from Fagge local government area of the state.
He said relevant authority has launched investigation into the occurrence and would publicise findings upon conclusion.
