4th batch of Kwara pilgrims airlifted to Saudi Arabia

The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board successfully airlifted 558 pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia early on Sunday, May 18, 2025. This fourth flight has increased the total number of pilgrims transported from the state to 2,083, accompanied by nine officials from the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) and a state representative leading the group.

Before their departure, Barrister Ismail Bolaji Yahaya, the State Amirul Hajj, addressed the pilgrims, urging them to “be exemplary ambassadors of the State and country” while in the holy land. He emphasized the importance of upholding a positive image throughout their spiritual journey.

Prof. Mahmood Jimba, the Chairman of the Kwara State Pilgrims Welfare Board, also extended his prayers, stating, “May Almighty Allah grant you safe travels and accept your acts of worship.” His message underscored the spiritual significance of the pilgrimage for the participants.

Additionally, the Executive Secretary advised the pilgrims to adhere to all local rules and customs during their stay, highlighting the importance of maintaining dignity: “Avoid any negative actions that could tarnish the image of our State and Nigeria.”

The pilgrims took off from Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin aboard a Max Airline flight at 4:30 am. The airlifting schedule indicates that the remaining pilgrims are set to depart on Monday.
