42-year-old man dragged to court over N2m land fraud

Adams Obanibi, 42 – years – old man

was charged before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for suspected N2 million fraud.

The defendant, who has no established residence, is on trial for fraud.

According to the prosecution, Insp Olubu Apata, the defendant committed the crime on August 21, 2020 at Ado-Ekiti.

According to Apata, the defendant obtained N2 million from the complainant, Mrs Ojuawo Kehinde, under the guise of selling her five plots of land.

According to him, the offence violated Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The defendant, on the other hand, pled not guilty to the accusation.

Mr Michael Olaleye, the defence attorney, requested the court to give release to his client on the condition that he not jump bail.

Mrs Kehinde Awosika, Chief Magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in the same amount in her judgement.

Awosika postponed the case until March 10 for a hearing.
