37-yr-old driver appears court over alleged unlicensed, reckless driving

A man, Nanso Sabestine, on Monday appeared in court over alleged unlicensed and recklesss driving.

The 37-year old driver was arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court over alleged unlicensed and recklesss driving.

Sabestine, whose address of residence was not disclosed, is facing a three-count charge of driving without licence, reckless driving, and disobedience of traffic rules.

Insp E. O. Adaraloye, the Police Prosecutor, informed the court that Sabestine carried out the the offences at about 10:30 a.m on Oct.19, at Sango Ota bridge, Abeokuta -Lagos Expressway.

The Police Prosecutor revealed that the Sabestine drove an LT bus with SMK 391 XY as registration number in a reckless manner and hit a pedestrian, identified as Bose Jaji.

”He drove without a driver’s liscence. He parked in an authorized portion of the highway, thereby obstructing traffic flow,” he said.

The prosecutor revealed that the offences were in contravention of the Federal Highway Act Cap.135, Laws of Federation, 2006.

The defendant has however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mrs A.O. Adeyemi, who’s the Magistrate, , granted the defendant bail in the sun of N30,000 plus one surety in like sum.

The magistrat directed that the surety must live within the jurisdiction of the court, be gainfully employed and provide an evidence of payment of tax to Ogun State Government.

She has adjourned the matter until Nov.10 for further hearing.
