35-yr-old man appears in court for allegedly stealing N250,000

John Podoese, 35 was on Tuesday dragged before Ogun’ Court, over alleged stealing 250,000 cash.

The 35 year old whose address was not disclosed was charged with burglary and theft.

Insp E. O. Adaraloye, who’s the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant carried out the offences on October 18 at 2.35 p.m. at Elebute area, Alumi Bus Stop, Ilogbo, Ota.

Adaraloye made an allegation that the defendant Invaded the residence of Kehinde Yakubu, the complainant, and dispossessed him of N250, 000.

He added that the defendant was arrested by a neighbour and was handed over to the authority of police.

The prosecutor said the offences were in contravention of the Sections 412 and 516 of the Criminal Code Vol.1 Law of Ogun, 2006.

When the matter was read to the defendant, however, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Mrs A .O. Adeyemi, who’s the Magistrate, granted the defendant N200,000 bail plus one surety.

Adeyemi directed that the surety must be living within the jurisdiction of the court and have reliable source of income with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.

She has adjourned the matter until November 28 for further hearing.
