32-yr-old man, appeared in court over alleged N740,000 fraud
A man, Innocent Timothy, on Wednesday, appeared in court for alleged N740,000 fraud.
Timothy was arraigned before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged N740,000 fraud.
Timothy, whose address of residence was not disclosed, has been charged with fraud.
Insp. Chidi Leo, the Prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant carried out the offence with two others, around January at Ungwan Rimi area of Kaduna.
Leo revealed that the defendant and his ally received N185, 000 from the complainants, Miss Rosemary Daniel and three other persons with the agreement that he would get them a shop.
The prosecutor added that after the collection of the money, the defendant spent it on himself and all efforts to regain the money proved abortive.
He revealed that the offence was in violation of Section 342 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
When the matter was read to Timothy, he however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Leo implored the court to suspend the matter to create time for the study of the matter and gather his witnesses.
Elijah Linus, the Defence Counsel, implored the court to admit his client to bail, while making a promise that he would not abuse bail condition.
Ibrahim Emmanuel, the Magistrate, admitted the defendant the sum of N200, 000 bail plus two sureties in like sum.
Emmanuel has adjourned the matter until December 19 for hearing.
