31-year-old man takes own life after jumping into “domestic well” in Kwara
A lifeless body of a 31-year old man identified as Abdullateef has been recovered after deliberately jumped into a domestic well in a suicidal mission at Bolarinwa Compound, Centre Igboro Area, Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
It was gathered that a distress call was received by the Kwara State Fire Service on Sunday, 23rd November 2025 at about 4:30 am
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Kwara state Fire Service Hakeem Hassan Adekunle, “Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a 31-year-old man named Abdullateef had deliberately jumped into a domestic well.”
Adekunle stated that findings revealed the deceased had reportedly been making repeated attempts since the previous day, before he sadly made the final attempt while other occupants were asleep, leaving no one available to intervene, resulting in his demise.
“Firefighters conducted a professional recovery operation, and his lifeless body was retrieved from the well and subsequently handed over to the head of the family, Alhaji Bolarinwa,” the statement added
The statement, however, quoted the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, expressing his deep sadness over the tragic incident, while extending heartfelt condolences to the Bolarinwa family, and urged the public to remain vigilant and attentive to individuals exhibiting signs of distress or suicidal tendencies, emphasizing that early intervention and close monitoring can prevent such unforeseen tragedies.
