Three men -Aliyu Sani, 23, Abdulsamad Ibrahim, 20 and Murtala Yahaya,22, have been remanded in a Correctional Centre by a Kano Shari’a Court for alleged stealing of two security lamps worth N26,000.
The defendants, who reside at Dan’agundi Quarters, Kano, were facing a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, trespass, theft and being in possession of stolen property.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Abdul Wada, told the court that one Hadiza Inuwa of Dogarai Quarters, Kano reported the matter at Gwale Police Division, Kano on Dec.29, 2021.
Wada said that on the same date at about 1:30p.m., the defendants conspired and trespassed into Yasmin Event Centre, situated along BUK Road and stole two security lamps worth N26,000.
“The defendants sold the lamps to an unknown person at Kurmi Market Kano at N20,000.
“During investigation the sum of N14,350 was found in their possession as exhibit,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened sections 120, 213, 133 and 199 of Kano State Sharia Penal Code.
The defendants, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Presiding judge, Dr Bello Khalid, ordered that they be remanded in a Correctional centre and adjourned the case until Feb.7.(NAN)
