24-yr-old man in court for allegedly stealing pumping machine in Lagos
A man, Ebuka Ukah, 24 has been dragged before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged theft of a pumping machine worth N45,000.
The defendant is currently tried on a two-count charge which borders on stealing and conspiracy.
When the matter was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Dr Simon Uche, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant and one other person at large, carried out the offences on October 28, at Ogunleye Street in Ajangbadi in Lagos.
He made an allegation that the defendant invaded the compound of one Folami Adeniyi and stole the pumping machine, while the owner of the property was absent.
The prosecutor revealed that he was however, arrested while he was exiting the house and his accomplice ran away
He said the offence was a contravention of the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr L J K Layeni admitted the defendant to the sum of N100,000 bail plus one surety.
He has adjourned the matter until December 14 for trial.
