2027: Wike urges Nigerians to reject coalition, says Tinubu’s policies yielding positive
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has urged Nigerians to dismiss the coalition gathering under the African Democratic Congress, labeling them as “naysayers and unpatriotic.”
During a speech at the University of Port Harcourt’s 35th Combined Convocation and 50th Anniversary, where he was honored with an Honorary Doctor of Science degree in Political Science, Wike criticized the coalition’s intentions to challenge incumbent President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. He pointed out that the coalition has no significant record of achievements in prior positions.
Wike commended Tinubu for making difficult yet necessary decisions that he believes will ultimately benefit Nigeria, highlighting early signs of progress, such as the decline in fuel prices. He emphasized the importance of supporting Tinubu, particularly for his initiatives like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which aims to enhance access to quality education.
Wike challenged the coalition, stating, “We must resist the purveyors of lies, hate, and division who seek to destroy our country,” and called for unity against those he accused of promoting division for political gain.
Reflecting on his connection to the University of Port Harcourt, Wike expressed gratitude for the institution’s impact on his life and reiterated his commitment to supporting it. He detailed his role in establishing the Faculty of Law at the university as part of his dedication to give back to his alma mater.
Through his remarks, Wike sought to rally the congregation around Tinubu’s leadership and vision for the country’s future.
