2027: Kwara Gov’s aide endorses Speaker Danladi for governorship

A political adviser to the Kwara State Governor, Prince Abubakar Suleiman, has declared support for the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi, as his preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election, should the position be zoned to Kwara North.

Mr Suleiman, popularly known as Sai Kai, made the declaration during a phone-in radio interview in which he cited competence, character and grassroots connection as reasons for his choice.

“In my own opinion, I will support Kwara North, and if I am to support Kwara North, I will support the most competent contestant — someone that will add value to Kwara, someone who listens and is close to the grassroots. That person is the Right Honourable Speaker, Engr. Yakubu Danladi,” he said.

Responding to questions about other aspirants from Kwara North, including Senator Sadiq Umar, whom some residents describe as also being close to the grassroots, Mr Suleiman dismissed claims of bias.

“It is the person you are close to that you will talk about. I spoke about what I know. If anyone has a contrary opinion, that is fine,” he said.
