2027: Kwankwaso to officially decamp to ADC Monday

The leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, March 30, 2026, according to a statement released by the movement.

The statement said Kwankwaso will formally register with the party at his residence in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Kano, at 12 p.m., marking a significant political shift for the movement and its supporters across the country.

Speaking in the press statement, the spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Habibu Sale Mohammed, said the decision was part of the movement’s commitment to democratic values and national development.

“We have always been committed to the betterment of our state and the nation at large. This strategic decision is aimed at strengthening democratic principles and promoting inclusive leadership that genuinely reflects the will and aspirations of the people,” he said.

The movement called on its members nationwide to immediately register with the ADC at their respective wards, local government areas, and state chapters, and to actively participate in party activities.

Dr. Mohammed said the move was taken in the collective interest of the people and in line with the movement’s political ideology.

“Democracy must be protected, and the will of the people must always be respected. This decision is in line with our unwavering commitment to democratic values and good governance,” he added.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has a strong political base, particularly in Kano State, and Kwankwaso’s move to the ADC is expected to influence political alignments ahead of future elections.

In his concluding remarks, the spokesperson emphasized the unity and determination of the movement going forward.

“We remain resolute and united in our mission to create a better Nigeria. This is just the beginning of a new chapter in our political journey,” he said.

Political observers believe the development could reshape parts of Nigeria’s political landscape in the coming months.
