2027: Ex-ADC presidential candidate Kachikwu alleges coalition’s intent to favor Atiku’s presidential bid

Dumebi Kachikwu, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 elections, has accused a faction of his party, led by former Senate President David Mark, of being deliberately structured to facilitate the candidacy of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 presidential election.

In an address to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Kachikwu revealed that during his meeting with coalition leaders, they were candid about their primary objective: reclaiming power.

“The Coalition was engineered and designed to produce Atiku Abubakar as the standard flag bearer. If not, I challenge them to make a statement that the 2027 presidential ticket is for Southerners,” Kachikwu asserted.

He emphasized that their discussions were predominantly centered on their ambition to regain political control, raising questions about the broader implications for party unity and representation in the upcoming elections.
