2027: Azeez-Salako formally declares Kwara governorship bid under APC

Dr. Azeez-Salako Muideen Olaniyi has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration, held on Tuesday at Arca Santa Hall, Ilorin, attracted supporters, party faithful, and stakeholders from across the 16 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the event, Azeez-Salako said his ambition is driven by a deep understanding of the struggles of ordinary citizens and a commitment to reposition the state for inclusive growth.

The forensic expert recalled his early life as a roadside motorcycle mechanic and later a truck driver, noting that his journey into entrepreneurship and community leadership has prepared him for governance.

“I understand your challenges because I have lived them. That is why this mission is deeply personal to me,” he said.

He pledged to prioritise security through intelligence-driven and community-based strategies, while also investing in infrastructure to boost connectivity and economic activities.

The aspirant further promised to transform agriculture into a viable commercial sector capable of generating employment and increasing internally generated revenue.

He said his administration, if elected, would equip youths with practical skills, reform the education sector to reflect modern realities, and improve access to quality healthcare services.

Azeez-Salako also assured civil servants and retirees of improved welfare, while pledging to create an enabling environment for small and medium-scale enterprises to thrive.

Highlighting his readiness for leadership, he cited his academic qualifications, including a Ph.D. in Forensic Accounting and Audit, alongside years of leadership experience.

He aligned his vision with the development agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and commended the ongoing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The aspirant also acknowledged the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, stating that his administration would build on existing foundations.

He paid tribute to traditional and religious leaders for their roles in sustaining peace, particularly the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

He further commended the leadership of the APC in Kwara State under Prince Sunday Fagbemi, describing the party structure as strong and progressive.

Goodwill messages were delivered by stakeholders including Sunday Ajileye, Chairman of the Arometa Development Association for Kwara South, and Alhaji Maiyaki Alfa from Lafiagi in Kwara North.

Both speakers described the aspirant as a man of integrity and expressed confidence in his ability to deliver on his promises.

Azeez-Salako called for collective efforts toward building a better Kwara, stressing that his campaign is anchored on the slogan: “Kwara will be great again,” with the motto, “Salako dé, àlàáfíà dé, àṣeyọrí dé,” symbolising progress, peace, and prosperity.
