2027: APC elders caucus advocates Kwara north candidacy for gubernatorial seat

As the 2027 general elections approach, the APC Elders Caucus in Kwara State has declared that the next gubernatorial candidate for the All Progressives Congress should originate from the Kwara North Senatorial District. This decision was made unanimously by the elders during a recent press conference in Ilorin.

Chairman of the caucus, Kunle Sulyman, stated, “It is in the interest of fair play, equity and justice that we Members of the Kwara APC Elders Caucus unanimously agreed that the next Gubernatorial Candidate for our Great Party should emerge from Kwara North Senatorial District.”

He highlighted the need for this decision following an extensive review of the party’s zoning arrangements, which previously allowed the incumbent governor, Mall. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq from Kwara Central, to seek re-election.

Sulyman emphasized the importance of fair representation, noting that Kwara Central would have spent 20 years in executive leadership if the current governor serves two full terms, while Kwara South has already produced a governor for eight years.

He added, “Although any interested members of the party can aspire to the highest position from any part of the state, experience from the past has shown that such people never succeed.”

The elders also addressed concerns regarding the ongoing Urban Renewal program, urging affected residents to seek proper channels for grievances rather than being swayed by opposition entities.

“For those aggrieved members of the public… they are advised to seek redress through appropriate quarters of Government,” they stated.

The Caucus lauded the current administration’s developmental achievements, acknowledging that while some opposition voices have criticized these efforts, they remain essential for the progress of Kwara State. “Every developmental policy may pose initial discomfort, but it is a means to greater improvements.”

Finally, they applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing infrastructure projects in the state and encouraged residents eligible to vote to take part in the Voter Registration Exercise, reminding them, “Your vote is your weapon and Your Voter’s Card is your instrument towards electing good Leaders.”
