Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Alhaji Abubakar Ayinla, urged residents to adopt responsible environmental habits, maintain clean surroundings, and actively support initiatives aimed at protecting the environment.

He emphasized that environmental protection is a collective responsibility that requires the participation and commitment of all citizens.

In his welcome address, the General Manager of KWEPA, Hon. Jide Aina, expressed concern over the growing impact of climate change on communities and ecosystems, stressing the need for urgent and collaborative action to mitigate its effects.

He encouraged residents to embrace environmentally friendly practices such as proper waste disposal, tree planting, regular environmental sanitation, and energy conservation as practical steps toward sustainability.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environmental Protection, Hon. Muhammed Mashood Muazu, reiterated the commitment of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to implementing policies and programmes that strengthen environmental sustainability and climate resilience across Kwara State.
