The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that sensitive electoral materials will no longer be kept with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu, INEC Chairman, said the sensitive electoral materials would no longer be kept with the CBN, starting from the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election.
While speaking in the country’s capital, Abuja, the chairman of the electoral body said this decision was arrived at, to prevent materials for elections from being compromised.
Recall that some Nigerians had called for the evacuation of sensitive electoral materials from the CBN, following speculations that the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele was running for presidential ticket of the APC.
