2023 polls: INEC uploads 90% election results on official website

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 159,509 results from 176, 846 polling units on its official portal.

This came 7 days after the conclusion of the presidential and national assembly elections which took place on Saturday February 25, 2023.

This is about 90 percent (%) of results from all polling units across the country.

The electronic transmission of election results was still ongoing as at the time of producing this report.

The Informant247 observes that the some members of the public, political figures and political parties have criticised the INEC boss, Professor Mahmood Yakubu over the failure of the electoral commission to upload the results on the portal, when counting, collation and announcement of the election results were ongoing.

This made agents of some political parties to walk out of the National Collation Centre in Abuja on Monday.

The electoral commission announced the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election.

According to INEC, Tinubu came victorious with 8.8 million votes.

The presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar came second with 6.9 million votes.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, had 6.1 million votes.
