Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ojuekun Sarumi Ward of Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State have reaffirmed their support for the Kwara Central Senatorial candidate of the party, Mallam Salihu Mustapha.
In a statement signed by some stakeholders namely, Abdullahi Sarumi, Abduldazaq Alaro, and Abdurazaq Ibrahim, they noted that the candidacy of Mallam Mustapha deserves nothing but genuine support from members of the Party across the board.
According to the stakeholders, the need to reemphasize their support is necessary on the heels of a report making rounds on social media where it was alleged that the APC members in the Ward are yet align with the candidacy of Turaki of Ilorin.
The Party stalwarts described the report Titled “Mallam Salihu Mustapha romancing us is a child play; good people of Ojuekun will never align with APC, a collapsed Party- Elders of Ojuekun” as malicious and divisive.
The group frowned at any attempt to blackmail Mustapha ahead of the Kwara Central Senatorial District 2023 election, insisting that opinion polls have been in favour of the senatorial candidate.
“He has over the years extended his hands of love to this peace-loving Ward, with his humanitarian gesture enjoyed by a substantial number of our family units.
“We have unanimously condemned those defaming the character of the charitable APC member in a build-up to Kwara Central Senatorial District 2023 election, particularly because public opinion continues to favour the philanthropist over rival, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi of PDP.
“Based on his people- empowerment initiatives and consequent upon examining his benevolent strides to improve Kwarans standard of living across board, we have agreed that Mallam Solihu Mustapha remains the only candidate, credible, competent and capable of representing our interest as a group”.
“We, as one of the stakeholders in Kwara’s development have concluded to throw our support behind Turaki n Geri, a privilege which will also be expressed to his party, the APC.
Let us be wary of mischief-makers and those who write about the present, using the language of the past” concluded the statement titled “Mallam Saliu Mustapha Is Our Man, Any Condition- Ojuekun Ward”,
