2023: Kwara lawmakers debunk rumour of working to ruin Senator Ajadi

…say allegation unfounded

The lawmakers representing Share/Oke-Ode and Omupo constituencies at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Honourable Rasaq Olatunde Owolabi and Hon Salaudeen Abdulrazak have reacted to the allegation leveled against him by an online report.

The report accused the lawmakers of initiating political gimmicks to reduce the influence of Senator Makanjuola Ajadi ahead 2023 general elections.

In a separate interview with this medium, the Babalomo born politician, Owolabi, denied the allegation saying it’s not true and that he remains loyal to the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq.

He said he cannot work against his political leader nor the Governor who believes in him and entrust in his hand, so much responsibility in the state.

Owolabi said he’s not surprised with the development saying all effort to frustrate his relationship with Senator Ajadi and governor will only be making it stronger

He however condemned the report for accusing him and his colleagues of doing governor’s bidding to tame Senator Ajadi.

He said the report is not balanced and the writer is inexperienced. “Journalism has gone beyond sitting at your comfort zone and start permutating all manners of unfounded reports. For them to balance the report, they should have approached me to state my side.

“We should learn to make good use of online media not to propagate fake news. I’ve never had any confrontation with Senator Ajadi, for those who do not know, he’s my political leader. His influence in Kwara politics has brought us so much good. By the grace of God, we remain together for the betterment of this State.

“For saying Senator was not invited to the inauguration of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC), that was misplaced information, there is no law that says he should be present at the event. Let us stop publishing what doesn’t make sense.

On his part, Honourable Salaudeen who’s popularly called AGF, said he’s not an agent of destruction and he cannot be hired to destroy another person’s life.

“The report is nothing but the imagination of some unscrupulous elements who want to bring this government down. I don’t know who sponsored the report, but, we should desist from carrying news that is not investigated.

“We are in a democratic setting, that doesn’t mean we should misuse our constitutional rights, who says the governor is against Senator? Senator is a stakeholder in Kwara APC, so, such a person cannot be pushed aside in the scheme of things.

“All I can say is that, there is nothing that should be taken seriously with the news, it’s nothing but fallacy. All those appointed for the TIC are through thorough and proper consultations,” he said.
