A 20-year-old Ibrahim Habibu was on Thursday remanded in a correctional centre by a Kano Sharia Court in Fagge for allegedly stealing an Android handset valued N16,000.

The defendant, who resides at Sheka Gidan Lead Quarters, Kano, is facing a two-count charge of criminal house trespass and theft, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Judge, Dr Bello Khalid, ordered the remand of the defendant in a correctional centre and adjourned the matter until Feb. 3, for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abdul Wada, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 30 at Sheka Karshen Kwalta Quarters, Kano.

He alleged that on the same date at 9.20 p.m., the defendant criminally trespassed into the house of one Adam Muhammed and stole an Android mobile phone worth N16,000.

Wada noted that the offence contravened Section 133 of the Kano State Sharia Law. (NAN)
