2 persons in court for allegedly stealing MP3, bluetooth devices in Lagos
Two persons were on Wednesday dragged before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of MP3 players and bluetooth devices worth N2.02 million.
The 18-year-old Amaka Godwin and 35-year-old Abubakar Tukur were charged by the police with theft, conspiracy and receiving stolen items.
Dr Simon Uche, who’s the Prosecution Counsel, informed the court that the defendants carried out the offence on September 8 and September 15, at Glorious Father’s House situated in Alaba International Market in Ojo, Lagos.
He made an allegation that the two persons accused collaborated to conspire and stole 40 pieces of model 666 bluetooth radio, 240 pieces of mp3 bluetooth radios and 100 pieces of ”1066” bluetooth radio.
He said other items stolen were 80 pieces of NS bluetooth radio, 100 pieces of L8 bluetooth radio, 48 pieces of V66 bluetooth and 100 MLS bluetooth radio all worth N2.02 million.
When the matter was read to the defendants, they, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He also revealed that the items belonged to Ceaser Resource Ltd which was stood in for by Chigozie Nweke
He added that the second accused was accused of receiving the items, even despite the fact that he knew that the items were dishonestly and fraudulently acquired by the first accused.
He said the offence was in contravention of the provisions of sections 287, 328 and 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
Mr L.J.K Layeni, who’s the Magistrate, granted the defendants N500,000 bail plus two sureties each in like sum.
He has adjourned the matter until December 9, for trial.
