15-year Old Ibukun-Ife Obajolowo wins two gold medals for Kwara at National Youth Games in Asaba
15-year-old Ibukun-Ife Obajolowo, an SSS 2 student of Adesoye College, Offa, has earned two gold medals in the 50 and 100 meters freestyle swimming events for Team Kwara at the ongoing 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
With this achievement, Team Kwara’s total medal count stands at four: 2 golds, 1 silver, and 1 bronze as of Saturday.
Reflecting on his victory, Ibukun-Ife expressed gratitude to his coach, acknowledging the vital role of his guidance and corrections over the years in shaping his success.
“This is not my first time at the youth games; I was here last year, but this year is truly special as I claimed two golds.”
Aspiring to become a professional swimmer like Michael Phelps, Ibukun-Ife encouraged his fellow athletes to remain focused and determined in pursuing their dreams
The Kwara contingent hopes to increase their medal tally at the campaign as the games continue to gather momentum.
Meanwhile, the Honourable Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh has reverted the age limit standard of the competition back to Under-17 from Under-15 where it’s currently being pegged. This standard will take effect from the next edition of the Games.
