15 burnt to death in Nigeria road accident
IBADAN, Nigeria (The Informant247) – Fifteen people were burnt to death after a commercial bus collided with a car on a highway in southwest Nigeria, the road safety agency said on Saturday.
“The accident, which occurred on Friday at Lanlate-Maya Junction in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State, was caused by a speed violation. 15 were killed and burnt to ashes,” the state commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Joshua Adekanye, said in a statement.
The sector commander said the corpses of six of the victims were immediately recovered by their families while the remaining nine were deposited at a government-owned hospital.
In Nigeria, many roads are poorly maintained and riven with potholes, leading to accidents that claim dozens of lives yearly.
