12 lockdown violators sentenced to one-week community service in Ilorin

The Kwara State Magistrate Court has sentenced twelve violators of the State Government lockdown directive — aimed at controlling the spread of coronavirus pandemic — to one week community service.
In his judgement, Magistrate A. A. Badmus, who presided over the matter, ordered the convicts to sweep the street from Yoruba-Market Road to the General Post-Office, in the Ilorin metropolis.
The twelve convicts; Fatai Adekunle, Lawal Moshood, Olalekan Ademola, Mrs Lawal Mariam, Sikiru Yusuf, Kulepa Akeem, Pamilerin Michael, Elefo Shola, Kudirat Salihu, Abdullahi Ibrahim, Lamidi Iyanda and Adedeji Abdulmumini were arrested by the police team, led by Deputy Commissioner, DSP Abimbola Sokoya.
When they were accosted, the convicts according to the police First Information Report could not give satisfactory explanation on why they failed to obey the government directives.
They were charged for the offences of failure to comply with the restriction order imposed by government, disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant contrary to regulation 17 paragraphs (1) (1) of Kwara State infection diseases (Emergency Prevention) regulation 2020 section 152 (B) Penal Code.
