10 million Nigerians get first dose of COVID-19 vaccine: NPHCDA
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has said that approximately 10 million Nigerians have received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
In an interview with news men on Monday, the Executive Director, Dr. Faisal Shuaib gave the update.
Shuaib said Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Jigawa and Osun States were the leading states and contributed 36 per cent to the number of vaccinated persons.
“As of December 26, 2021, 9,765,729 eligible persons targeted received the first dose, while 4,363,620 got the second dose”, he confirmed.
The official said vaccines remain the best way to protect people from coronavirus and save lives, adding that Nigerian government approved three vaccines and had secured early access for more doses.
Shuaib described Nigeria’s COVID-19 vaccine roll-out as the biggest vaccination programme in history.
“The goal remains to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible”, the NPHCDA chief noted.

The website provides guidelines for persons that have got two doses of AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer Bio-NTech, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
