Zero hunger: Gadaff foundation distributes 5,000kg of potatoes to support elderly women in Asa, Kwara

The Gadaff Future Care Foundation, led by Hon. Sulaiman Lekan Gadaff, has distributed 5,000kg of potatoes to elderly women in Asa Local Government Area.

This initiative took place as part of the efforts to support vulnerable members of the community and align with the Kwara State government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq and the goal 2 on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’s Zero Hunger.

The distribution event, organized by Mariam Kehinde Obalana, Director General of the Gadaff Future Care Foundation, aimed to provide immediate assistance to elderly women who often face financial difficulties especially in the current harsh economy.

A total of 200 women were selected from various villages, each receiving 25kg of potatoes along with some cash support.

At the event, the founder of the foundation Hon. Gadaff emphasized that this initiative is not just about giving food but also about reinforcing the government’s commitment to helping all citizens.

He mentioned that the state government has made significant progress in various sectors in-line with the United Nations’ SDGs, including agriculture and food security.

Hon. Gadaff stated, “As we distribute these potatoes and cash, we remind ourselves that we are building a community where no one is forgotten, regardless of their age or situation. It is our responsibility to support the government’s efforts to ensure everyone benefits from democracy.”

He also praised Governor Abdulrahman for his leadership, particularly in agriculture, where programs like KwaraLEARN are helping to improve farming practices and productivity.

The Gadaff Future Care Foundation has been actively involved in community support projects, aiming to assist vulnerable groups, including women and the elderly.

Many beneficiaries expressed their gratitude. Mama Zainab Abdul, a 68-year-old woman from Budo-Egba Village, said, “I am very happy. This help will make a big difference for my family. I thank everyone who made this possible.”

Another recipient, Hajia Aishat Yusuf from Aboto Village, shared her appreciation: “Support like this is rare for us. We are grateful to Hon. Gadaff and our governor for caring about us. This will really help us.”

According to Gadaff, the goal is to boost productivity and food security across Kwara State.

Hon. Gadaff reiterated his commitment to continuing such initiatives to help those in need.

He encouraged others to join in supporting the governor’s work, which has positively impacted the lives of many people in Kwara State.

He concluded that the Gadaff Future Care Foundation remains committed to improving the lives of vulnerable community members and the foundation hopes to work with other organizations to achieve even more significant results in the future.
