Zamfara residents suffer devastating terrorist attacks, seek government intervention

In a tragic incident, suspected terrorists launched a deadly attack on Kwatar community, near Gidan Zala, Kotorkoshi district of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Nigeria, leaving numerous casualties and many villagers abducted.

The bandits reportedly struck the community during the early hours of Friday, and no security operatives were present to intervene.

According to an eyewitness police officer named Ismaila, several villagers lost their lives, while others were taken captive, and many escaped with severe injuries during the horrifying operation by the terrorists.

He recounted the loss of his own father, elder brother, and sister-in-law in the attack.

The aftermath of the assault has been devastating, with most survivors fleeing the community out of fear of another bandit incursion.

Ya’u Ibrahim, another villager, described the attack as terrible, with many community members sustaining severe injuries while attempting to escape.

Amid the escalating violence, residents are urgently appealing to the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Zamfara State, hoping for measures that would restore safety and peace for the people.

However, the situation remains dire, as the region near Tsafe Local Government Area has also been afflicted by armed banditry.

Despite the severity of the situation, attempts to contact the police for their response have been unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazeed Abdulahi, did not respond to calls.
