Woman jailed 10 years for trafficking indian hemp
A woman, Mariam Saliu, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, on Tuesday, by a Lagos Federal High Court for trafficking 2.5kg cannabis sativa popularly called Indian hemp.
Justice Daniel Osiagor declared the sentence after she pleaded guilty to an unlawful export of weed.
recall that the accused, according to the prosecutor, Abu Ibrahim, was apprehended on March 5, 2022, during an assessment of cargoes to Dubai, united Arab emirates, UAE, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
Abu informed the court that the accused had engaged an agent, Audu Muhammed, to commit the offence.
with the suspect’s guilty plea, add available exhibits, she was sentenced to 20 year imprisonment with an option to pay N200,000 fine.
