Woman escapes from kidnappers’ den in Osun
Adejumo Funmilayo, a middle-aged woman on Wednesday escaped from kidnappers den along Ilesha-Akure highway in Iwaraja area of Ori-Ade Local Government area, Osun State
Funmilayo was reportedly abducted alongside three other passengers on Sunday in a Toyota sienna and led into thick forest long the highway.
When narrating her ordeal in the hands of kidnappers, Funmilayo said: “We were stopped around 8pm on Sunday. There was a road block along the expressway along Iwaraja and we all thought it was police check point. However, as the driver parked, the gunmen were very aggressive. They collected my phone and requested for the name of my relatives they will contact when they are ready to collect ransom.
“At their den, two other persons were brought in. The three abductors who kidnapped us decided to hunt down an animal. They left five of us, all female in the thick dark forest for about 20minutes during which I just ran into a thick section of the forest. I walked all through the night for about four hours before coming out in a village and two men led me to the main road and directed me to Amotekun office in Oriade where I reported to the corps on duty.”
When contacted, the Osun Amotekun corps spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu confirmed the incident adding that the Iwaraja forest has been combed twice but no one was found there.
