Wole Soyinka visits Sunday Igboho in Benin Republic

The nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka was at Cotonou, Benin Republic, to dignify the invitation of the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly referred to as Sunday Igboho.

The global literary guru was sighted at the Seme border, Sunday noon, moving to Cotonou, the country’s capital.

While waiting for the conclusion of his immigration exercise, a crowd of persons surrounded him and he was repeatedly asked where he was moving to.

He responded that he was proceeding to Sunday Igboho, to break the Muslim fast with him.

When reminded that neither he nor his potential host, Igboho was a Muslim, the literary icon claimed that it made no difference.

He stressed that he had wanted to meet Igboho, for a sympathy and friendly visit.

“Ramadan is as good as any other season to express non-denominational solidarity,” Soyinka said.

Remember that Sunday Igboho was apprehended in Cotonou on July 20, 2021 in the process of fleeing to Germany for succor, shortly after he was declared wanted by the Nigerian government.

Igboho spent eight months in prison before he was released by the Benin Republic government on the condition that he would not be allowed to leave the country.

Her wife who was arrested alongside him, was later released.
