Wike gives N200m to Kaduna State IDPs

Governor of Rivers State and PDP presidential aspirant has given N200 million to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kaduna State for their upkeep.

Governor Wike made this voluntary financial contribution, as he appeared at the state secretariat of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna as a move to propagate the gospel of his presidential contest of 2023.

“We must not be sentimental about winning 2023 election.

“We need people who are courageous and competent to win the election come 2023 and this we will do when you give us the mandate,” he said.

Wike acknowledged that the security of lives and properties of the people should be the first priority of any serious government upon assuming office.

“My major concern within my first six months in office is how to restore our states, how to restore our country and if you can not do that, there is no need to say you want to govern any state of head any country,” Wike said.
He said intelligence gathering was key to ending insecurity.

“One of the major problems we have as a nation is that we don’t spend much money on intelligent gathering.

“Unfortunately, we spend more money on buying weapons than on gathering intelligence,” he said.

He however urged members of the party to discard any form of bias by coming together to support one best candidate in the coming 2023 election.

Sen. Ahmad Makarfi, former Kaduna State governor, while reacting commended Wike for his unrelenting spirit describing him as a core party loyalist who stood for the interest of the masses.

He commended Wike’s donation to the IDPs describing it as heartwarming.

Mr Felix Hyet, the State PDP Chairman said the party would have no choice than to support candidates who were the choice of the people and would symbolize the voices of the common man.
