WAEC gets new boss
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the appointment of Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut as the new Head of the Nigeria National Office.
Dangut takes over from Patrick Areghan, whose tenure ends this month.
Dr. Dangut, previously the Deputy Registrar of WAEC’s National Office, has a long and distinguished history with the organization. He joined WAEC’s service in 1998 as an Assistant Registrar II and has steadily risen through the ranks.
His exemplary conduct during examinations earned him commendation from the Nigeria Examinations Committee between 2000 and 2006.
His extensive career with WAEC includes roles such as Assistant Registrar/Subject Officer at the Test Development Division, WAEC Lagos, and Senior Assistant Registrar/Head of Examinations Security and Deputy to the Branch Controller in various WAEC branches across Nigeria.
Born on October 2, 1967, in Plateau State, Dr. Dangut attended Government Secondary School, Riyom, and Government Science School, Kuru, where he obtained his WASC/SC in 1986. He furthered his education at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, earning a Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Production in 1991.
Dr. Dangut brings 25 years of experience to his new role, during which he leveraged Information and Communications Technology to enhance processes in Test Development, Test Administration, and Post-Test Activities at WAEC.
He is also a prolific scholar with publications in international and national journals and a history of delivering keynotes and papers at international and national conferences.
