Unknown gunmen kill 2 security operatives, injure many others in Ebonyi
About two members of Ebubeagu security operatives were gunned down by unknown gunmen at the well known Ebebe junction, along Ogbaga road in Abakaliki.
The incident reportedly happened on Friday night.
The incident has caused fears and worry among residents of the state as many were sighted running for their own safety.
It was gathered that many sustained various degrees of injuries, after the incident.
A source that witnessed the scenario stated that: “It was last night around 9.30 p.m. I passed through that place and a full complement of Ebubeagu operatives cordoned the location.
“The victims were taken to the Alex Ekuweme Federal Teaching hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA 2, and before they could get there, two of the victims died while others with bullet injuries are now receiving treatment.
“Everybody around the location of the incident, went inside their houses for fear of becoming victims.”
The incident happened a few metres away from the Old Government House, Abakaliki and Police Headquarters in the State.
The dead bodies of the Ebubeagu personnel have been moved at the hospital.
The Informant247 gathered that there have been reported agitations against the manners the Ebubeagu Security personnel operated in the State.
It was also gathered that the opposition political parties have been seeing security personnel as a threat to their ambitions in the 2023 general election.
The Police command’s spokesperson, SP Chris Anyanwu has confirmed the development.
