UNILAG inducts 38 new radiographers
The Department of Radiography, College of Medicine, University of Lagos (UniLag), on Thursday, inducted 38 radiographers with a charge to them to be efficient change agents in the health care delivery chain.
The College’s Provost, Prof. David Oke, gave the charge in Lagos at the induction ceremony for those drawn from the 2019/2020 session, at the Old Great Hall of the College.
Oke, who said that the inductees were being celebrated for their excellent performances, urged them to make their blows count in avoiding aimless strikes.
He congratulated the inductees for attaining an important milestone in their profession, adding that they should be purpose driven, focused and resilient to be successful.
Oke said: “If you could do one thing to transform your life and career, I would highly recommend it to be something you are passionate about.
“When you do what you love, you don’t feel you are working any more, as you derive pleasure from it. Be purpose driven. Set worthwhile realisable goals and work not just hard but smart to achieve them.”
He also urged them to improve themselves, through training and re-training opportunities, that would help to sharpen their skills in the profession.
Oke also urged them to remember the college in order “to give back to it”.
He also urged the inductees to learn how to manage difficult situations, because several challenges and obstacles awaited them on their path to success and fulfilment.
Earlier, the College Secretary, Dr Olayinka Obafemi-Moses, advised the inductees to be worthy ambassadors of the college.
Obafemi-Moses said that the inductees had all they needed to excel in life and impact positively on the society with the knowledge acquired in the university.
Also, Dlama Zira, President, Association of Radiographers of Nigeria (ARN) implored the inductees to be purpose driven as they encountered current best practices in the radiography profession.
Zira, represented by Sule Joshua, Assistant National Secretary, urged them to be steadfast, dogged, confident, accountable and integrity driven in the discharge of their duties.
“You are today inducted to be change agents and to join hands together with other teeming professionals in the health sector, to provide effective and efficient health care delivery,” he said.
