Troops neutralize bandits, recover 1,000 cattle in Taraba
Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, alongside their counterparts from Operation Safe Haven, have successfully neutralized two bandits and recovered 1,000 cattle in Jebjeb Village, located in the Karim-Lamido local government area of Taraba State.
Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, stated that the operation was initiated following credible intelligence about armed bandits crossing from Plateau State into Taraba on approximately 30 motorcycles.
“The criminal elements launched a cattle rustling operation targeting a Fulani settlement near Jebjeb Village,” Oni reported.
In response, the troops, along with forces from Operation Safe Haven, swiftly mobilized towards Komodoro village. As they engaged the bandits, who had fled across the river boundary into Daji Madam Forest in Plateau State, a fierce firefight ensued.
“During the encounter, troops neutralized two of the bandits and successfully recovered about 1,000 rustled cattle. The recovered livestock were immediately herded to safety and relocated to Jebjeb community in Karim Lamido LGA,” he added.
Oni confirmed that thorough identification and verification processes are set to be conducted to ensure the return of the rustled cattle to their rightful owners in due course.
