Troops neutralize 9 terrorists, foil ‘Mine-Laying’ attempt in Borno

The troops of Operation Hadin Kai Joint Taskforce North-East have successfully killed nine suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and recovered a cache of ammunitions during intense operations in the Konduga, Bama, and Gwoza local government areas of Borno State.

Captain Reuben Kovangiya, spokesman for Operation Hadin Kai, stated in a press release on Wednesday from Maiduguri that the troops also prevented terrorists from laying mines on a bridge along the Marte – Dikwa Road.

The recovered ammunitions during these encounters included two heavy Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and associated equipment.

“In line with the directives from the military high command, the troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), supported by the Air Component, have sustained a series of offensive operations, including ambushes and fighting patrols in the North-East. This has led to the neutralization of 9 terrorists and the recovery of AK-47 rifles and PKT machine guns across the regions of Konduga, Bama, and Gwoza,” Captain Reuben explained in the statement.

He emphasized that these ongoing operations demonstrate OPHK’s commitment to denying insurgents the freedom to operate in the area.
