Tragedy strikes as 44-year-old man drowns in Kwara
In a somber incident, a 44-year-old man lost his life in the Agba Dam located in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
The tragic event unfolded at approximately 10:50 hours, prompting a rapid response from the Kwara State Fire Service.
Upon receiving a distress call from Mr. Onikepe Bolaji reporting the discovery of a body in Agba Dam, the Fire Service swiftly mobilized a rescue operation.
Equipped with a boat, the firemen demonstrated their expertise, successfully recovering the lifeless body of the drowned man.
The rescued body was handed over to DSP Achimugu Samuel of the Nigeria Police, marking the grim conclusion of the rescue efforts.
Notable figures present at the scene included Commissioner for Water Resources, Usman Lade, and the Permanent Secretary Minister of Water Resources.
Commending the rescue team for their commendable performance, Commissioner Usman Lade acknowledged their efforts in managing the distressing situation.
The Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed deep sadness over the incident.
He urged the general public to heighten vigilance in their neighborhoods to avert similar tragedies.
