Tragedy as Bauchi police officer dies in autocrash en route wedding venue
A tragedy struck the Bauchi State Police Command on Saturday when Superintendent of Police Mustapha Garba lost his life in a fatal road accident en route to his own wedding.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, CSP Mohammed Wakil, described the incident as devastating. “The command is in mourning. SP Mustapha Garba was on his way to attend his own wedding when the unfortunate incident occurred,” he stated.
Wakil revealed that Garba was traveling with three friends in a Mercedes Benz when the vehicle lost control and collided head-on with an Opel Vectra at Bargan Tsamiya.
“Upon receiving the news, the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Sani-Omolori, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer of Toro Division to mobilise and evacuate the victims to Toro General Hospital,” Wakil added.
Tragically, the crash resulted in the death of Garba and two of his companions, confirmed by a medical doctor at the hospital. “Sadly, a medical doctor at the hospital confirmed the groom and two others dead. Their bodies have been released to their families for burial,” Wakil concluded.
