Tinubu meets security chiefs amid rising insecurity in Nigeria

Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a crucial meeting with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa at the State House.

The discussions are reportedly focused on addressing escalating security concerns in various regions, particularly in Benue and Plateau states.

The president’s return to Nigeria on Monday night follows a 19-day trip to France and the United Kingdom, during which time reports of killings and abductions surfaced across the nation.

Opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, have criticized the president’s extended absence, highlighting the ongoing violence and tragic loss of life as Nigeria grapples with security challenges.

In recent weeks, numerous fatalities have been reported in Plateau state, while Benue state faced its own crisis with over 50 lives lost due to violent attacks in Ukum and Logo LGAs on April 18. The meeting aims to develop strategies to combat these threats and restore peace in affected communities.
