Tinubu: Kano’s ready to repeat what happened in 1993 — Governor Ganduje

The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said citizens of the state will repeat what they did during the 1993 presidential election.

The Governor said the people of the state did not cast their votes for a northerner, Bashir Tofa and instead decided to vote for a presidential candidate of South West extraction, MKO Abiola.

Ganduje made this revelation while having a campaign tour with candidates of the All Progressives Party, (APC) who are contesting for different positions in the forthcoming general elections in the state.

He said the people of Kano State are prepared to repeat history by voting for the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu.

He said it was necessary to support the zoning of Nigerian presidency from North to South and vice versa.

He also revealed that the presidential candidate has assisted political actors of northern extraction to get to the corridor of power on different instances before now.

The governor said “That showed the political maturity and dexterity of Kano citizens. We voted for Chief MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, and rejected Bashir Othman Tofa of the National Republican Convention, NRC, because we all believed in national integration and competencies.

“Tinubu was an instrument behind making Atiku Abubakar become the presidential candidate of Action Congress, AC. He also provided another platform for Nuhu Ribadu to contest for the presidency under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.

“Asiwaju Tinubu worked very hard to maintain the equation. Hence, his support for northern presidential candidates in the past. One good thing deserves another. We have no other option now than to support his candidature.”

Ganduje added: “I am presenting to all, our most competent and deserving contestants, [who are better than] other contestants from all other opposition parties.”
