TESCOM recruitment: Shortlisted candidates to be contacted as 4,163 of 5,290 screened
Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) on Tuesday disclosed that 4,163 out of 5,290 applicants who made it to the interview stage were successfully screened and in the 1,800 jobs vacant.
TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed made this known while commending all the applicants who took part in its recruitment process, saying the attention the programme received underscores high public confidence in the administration of the state Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
He said, “The difference in the two figures comes from the applicants who did not turn up for the interview or did not meet the well-stated criteria for the screening.”
Giving the breakdown, the chairman said that of the 4,163 screened and interviewed, 2,169 are females, while 1,994 are males, adding that 2,252 applicants (54.10%) were screened and interviewed for STEM subjects.
The statement said the commission will contact shortlisted candidates later once it has done the due diligence and completed its work. He added that shortlisted candidates will then undergo an approved drug test at the NDLEA before they are offered the job, he said.
“From the CBT to the interview stage, the process has thrown up very brilliant and suitable candidates for the job. We wish we could take everyone who scaled through the interview stage, but we are obviously limited to 1,800 new hires in this phase,” the statement said.
“Regardless, our decision will be guided by merit, equity, and our needs assessment across the 16 local governments.”
