Sulyman Oba appointed new KWARTMA CEO

The Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi officially decorated the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA), Mr Abdullahi Suleiman Oba, during a ceremony, was held in his office yesterday.

In his address, the Commissioner emphasized the State government’s commitment to improving traffic management systems and urged the new CEO to prioritize the security and safety of road users. He highlighted Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to maintaining high standards of ethics and professionalism within the transportation sector and encouraged Mr. Oba leads his team with innovative ideas that promote productivity and efficiency.

“I urge you to lead with vision, integrity, and a comprehensive understanding of the transportation dynamics. Let your leadership inspire innovation, accountability, and excellence. We count on you to enhance traffic management systems and improve road safety in the State,” the Commissioner stated.

Hon. Korasabi also called on the new KWARTMA CEO to foster dedication and collaboration with all relevant stakeholders to reflect the aspirations of both the government and the citizens in improving the transportation sector.

In a goodwill message, the Kwara State Commissioner for Water Resources, Yunusa Lade, praised Mr. Oba for his impressive track record as a traffic officer. He expressed confidence in Oba’s ability to lead KWARTMA successfully.

Additionally, the Permanent Secretary represents the Kwara State Commissioner for Works, Alh. Abdullahi Muhammad Mao commended the governor for appointing a qualified traffic officer as KWARTMA’s CEO, noting that this unprecedented choice would motivate the agency’s staff.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Suleiman Abdullahi Oba pledged that his leadership would align with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision of a “New Kwara.” He promised to elevate the agency and emphasized the need for stronger collaboration with security agencies, ministries, departments, and transport unions to promote economic development and ensure safety on Kwara roads.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Commissioner for Works, Abdulquawiy Olododo, and the Senior Special Assistant on Transportation to the Governor, Hon. Ibrahim Orire, among other key stakeholders in the transportation sector.

Chairmen of various transport unions also expressed their support and commitment to complying with traffic rules and regulations while fostering a positive relationship with KWARTMA and the state government for the benefit of Kwara State.

The highlight of the occasion was the official handing over of the baton of office from the former Acting CEO, Engr. Michael Bamidele, to the new CEO, Mr. Abdullahi Suleiman Oba.
