Sultan of Sokoto, Emir of Ilorin Declare tomorrow Eid-El-Fitr celebrations following sighting of new moon
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has confirmed that Eid-el-Fitr celebration will hold tomorrow Sunday 30th March 2025.
The Emir noted that this followed the sighting of new crescent of Shawwal 1446 marking the completion of the glorious month of Ramadan.
The Emir’s message was contained in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, stressing that Alhaji Sulu-Gambari consulted the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Saad Abubakar CFR, the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Umar Ibn Garbai Ibn El-Kanemi and other prominent traditional rulers across the country for there position.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has also declared the sighting of new moon and thereby declared Sunday, 30th of March 2025 as the first day of Shawwal 1446AH.
It would be recalled that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had earlier announced the sighting of the moon, marking the beginning of Shawwal 1446AH.
The announcement was made via its official X handle @insharifain on Saturday, 29th of March, 2025. The announcement mean that the Muslims across the Saudi Arabia and other countries following the suit will celebrate the Eid-El-Fitr on Sunday, 30th of March, 2025.
Eid-El-Fitr is one of the Muslims celebrations across the world to mark the end of Ramadan fasting. The celebration is joined with observing two rakkah at the Eid praying ground and giving charity like Zakatul-Fitri to mark as commanded by Allah through the noble prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).
